Summary

SecureErase never sends your files, file names or file contents anywhere. The only data that leaves your PC is what licensing needs, described below.

What the app sends to our license server

• A device fingerprint: a one-way SHA-256 hash of the Windows machine identifier. It cannot be turned back into the identifier and contains no personal information. It changes if Windows is reinstalled.
• Your license key, when you activate, renew (about every 6 hours while online) or deactivate.

The server stores only the device fingerprint and the time your free trial started, to allow one trial per device. To check your subscription it passes your license key and a device label derived from the fingerprint to Lemon Squeezy. The server runs on Cloudflare, which processes your IP address to deliver the request; we do not store it.

Payments

Purchases are handled by Lemon Squeezy as Merchant of Record. Your name, email, billing address and payment details are collected and processed by Lemon Squeezy under its own privacy policy; we receive order and subscription information needed to provide the license and support.

Data kept only on your PC

Operation reports, settings, your license file (protected with Windows DPAPI) and your encrypted vault are stored in your Windows profile and never uploaded. Reports may contain the paths of erased items unless you choose to hide names. Diagnostic logs contain no file names or contents and are kept for 14 days.

This website

This site uses no analytics or tracking cookies. It loads fonts from Google Fonts and the Lemon Squeezy checkout script, which receive your IP address when the page loads.
